This candle holder was created during my residency in Japan in spring 2025. It is made from local clay from Shigaraki and is wood-fired, giving it the typical look of Shigaraki ceramics.
The intense fire during the wood firing has caused the tile to warp slightly, see the shadow on the wall for reference.
